Sup dude,I totally agree with you,alot of kids these days are the product of way too much MTv and gold toothed gangsta rappers.Nothing wrong with that,I mean that's their life to follow stuff instead of just bein' themselves,I think it's always been like that.Kids who are in school now thinkin they're so damn cool following what they see are the bullies to those kids who are just being themselves.I was the latter kinda kid,everybody thought I was immature for reading comic books and playing Nintendo all the time and drawing.I was the one that did'nt wanna play basketball with the rest and chill at the bleacher by myself and draw and I took alot of scorn because of that but looking back I was really glad.
How to make a comic and art in general is rather somthing you develop inside,the key to being a productive artist is to discipline yourself and like what you do.Just practice your style of choice for awhile and once you get the hang of drawing character mixed in with backgrounds than just practice the sequential part of it.Come up with a story that best relates to you,never try to make art thinking if ppl are gonna dig it,you gota dig it for yourself.As far as materials go,starting off should'nt be anything fancy,I usually get great stuff come out of the paper out of just a pencil and an eraser.You can be an expert in photoshop,but if you dont know dick about the fundamentals of just using a pencil and an eraser than what's the freakin use.So practice the fundamentals,read up on certain things you wanna learn,there's alot of books by Burne Hogarth which are quite excellent.As for colors,dont trip off it yet until you get the hang of penciling and inking is something which comes naturally if you pencil alot.As for color equipment I prefer,I totally dig Prismacolor brand color pencils.Anyways I have a website devoted to my own underground comic series,you may check it out with the link below.All in all,just have fun with it,I mean that's the real reason why I like drawin panels,alot of fun.I might not end up making any big money or being famous but fuck it you know all in all I'm still havin'fun at what I do...
