: I really think the summaries are great. Unfortunately, it took me hours to read them and they're only going to get longer. What I'm suggesting is 5 or so of the most frequently asked questions being posted in a place where they can't be missed. I mean, every day someone asks about Clerks 2. Thats just insane.
: I'm sure many people don't post their first message until they read the summaries, but I know that I felt intimidated by them, and also, feeling that I know everything, didn't feel like I needed to read them in order to post. I know that it says that its important, but my many years of public schooling has desensitized me to the word.
: Just think about the number of people who post (like the one above mine) that say "If this has already been asked, I'm sorry." No one should be this intimidated by the board. This is basically begging not to get flamed. In actuality, flaming hurts people. Its just words from a stranger, but no one likes to be made out to be the idiot. A board based on some of the funniest movies of all time shouldnt have such a "scary" atmosphere.

: : ...that is what the summaries are for. And the link to the summaries is at the top of the page. I didn't post my first message untill I read them because the guild lines asked me to. I still review the summaries to see if they have been updated. You also have to realize that some of the posters who do ask these questions do so to get a rise out of the others. I for one nolonger flame newbies (unless they are really stupid) but I will ask them to read the summaries.

: : : This is my reaction to the plethera of new subscribers/flaming of these new people for not reading the summaries. Let me know what ya'll think about this idea (especially recent subscribers). The summaries are wonderful, but they are a very long read. Some people want to jump in right away and post. The result is
: : : 1. A question already answered
: : : 2. people jumping on this person
: : : 3. that person leaving the board because the people here are mean
: : : I understand that some people like making fun of other people's posts. Same as a 4th grader picking on the new kid, it makes them feel smarter and in control and they get attention for being witty. Unfortunately, as I learned when I almost left the board, many people have stopped posting because of the nature of some of the board "regulars." I think this is a shame. I got quite a few emails from people saying "I dont like those people either but I stick around anyway because I love the movies, BUT I dont post anymore."
: : : Here are my ideas to help solve this: Is there a way to put the most commonly asked questions (i.e. What happened to Clerks 2? and What is the cast list for VA5) at the top of the board page? Or maybe have a page in the middle of where you subscribe that lists these most frequently asked questions. Personally, and I can tell others feel the same, I'm getting tired of flipping through this board and all I read is "Read the summaries you idiot" over and over again. I'm sure someone on here would be glad to make a list of the most annoying questions. And I'm sure even this wouldnt cure our problem 100%, but I think it would make a big improvement.
: : : Last thing. Stop being asses! Thats all I have to say.
