Just a general reaction to all that I've read. Please keep in mind that I just got off of work and its 3:30 in the friggin morning and I drank some wine on an empty stomach.
1. I probably misused the term "regulars." It is true that people like JrJediMom are really nice people who just say "please read the summaries." The goal of my suggestions was to help elimiate her (and other's) troubles by posting those few questions in a place that can't be missed. Another one that needs to be SOMEWHERE are Kevin's suggestions to screenwriters/directors etc.
2. I understand that the summaries are wonderful and have never disputed the fact. The problem with the summaries are that they are too damn long and will only get longer.
3. I also understand that people who dont read the summaries are annoying. This is where my suggestion comes in. People arent going always read the summaries before posting. I'm just saying, instead of annoying everyone with "What's Kevin's next movie called?" the most frequently asked questions are posted where they can't be missed. Mostly to save people who regularly visit the board a little trouble.
4. I really like the idea of the "Survivor" thing. I do not, however, think it should take place publicly on the board. It should be done by notifying Ming or Toads of the problem. If they receive enough emails from different people, that person should be taken off.
5. As far as Ming and Toads not having enough time to do this, maybe I dont understand the things they go through, but if they have time to refresh the board every day or so, they have time to update a list of 5 or so questions most frequently asked once a month. They know the most frequently asked questions because THEY ARE THE ONES THAT DELETE THEM! It will, all in all, save them trouble!
6. I'm not telling anyone how the board should be run. Personally, I think its really great. If I didn't like it, I wouldnt be here. I was just making a suggestion on what I thought might make life a little easier on everyone here. Especially considering the number of people that check in daily.
7. It has nothing to do with being a woman. It has do to with being perceptive and receptive of other's feelings. It bothers me when I see numerous posts from people who do not show up regularly that are afraid of being flamed. Tons of messages ending with "I'm sorry if this is a stupid question . . ." Its just unnecessary.
To make a long story short (too late), I just think there has to be some way of making people feel comfortable about being here and posting simply as a fan. That was my suggestion. Others have posted theirs. Its up to others to make any decisions on what they feel is right.
