I am guessing here, but most of these guys around here have never made a film, so therefore they don't know how physically and mentally exhausting it is. Kudos to you for actually getting out there and making something regardless if some people thinks its a 'rip-off,' think its bad, and uncreative, etc., etc. I personally thought it was pretty clever. Making a film is a hard thing to do and most are too lazy to get up and do it.
For instance, My NYU thesis film looks like the DP looks like he fell asleep behind the camera. I trusted him and he fucked up. My film is pretty horrible but I'm proud of myself for going through that hell of a ride they call making a film and coming out alive.
My advice to you, don't show this to hardcore Kevin Smith groupies. If you think about it, how would your film go over well with them?
good luck though

: Hey everyone. We want to thank those who stayed to watch "Chasing Kevin" at Vulgarthon. We hope you enjoyed it. It was great to have fellow View Askew fans watch our little movie. We know that some of you are confused though, and those who didn't see it are even more confused. With that being said, may we present...
: THE CHASING KEVIN FAQ:
: What is "Chasing Kevin"?
: It is a fictional documentary about an aspiring filmmaker, Scott Kramer, and his obsession with becoming the next Kevin Smith. The story is told through interviews with Scott's friends and colleagues as well as footage of his experiences while pursuing his goal. Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes make appearances as well.
: Are Scott Kramer and Randy Appell real people?
: Yes. We are real people(last time we checked.) We thought that by using our real names, it would help make the film seem more authentic.
: So what is "Employees"?
: "Employees" is a film within a film. It is only real in the world of "Chasing Kevin." In the mockumentary, it is the film that Scott made with Randy in hopes of achieving success as a filmmaker.
: How much of "Employees" was actually produced?
: Only a few scenes of "Employees" were actually written and filmed. Some are on our website, toomanynicknames.com, and some appear in "Chasing Kevin." There might be some more scenes, so keep checking our site and who knows what you'll see.
: Where can I see "Chasing Kevin"?
: Hopefully, "Chasing Kevin" will soon be doing the festival circuit. We will be posting info on our website about when and where you could see our film.
: So, that's the info. Hope it clarifies things for you. Thanks again!
