We risk the wrath of smalls, and yet it's you...so I wonder and ask:
What are you thoughts on Todd Haynes?
His estringent stylized eye in early films like "Poison" and "Safe"...and his decadent glam-art epic, "Velvet Goldmine?"
What's he been up to lately? I'm a bit out of the festival circuit so I don't know what he might have floating around.
I'm a huge fan of "VG," myself. The lyrics to the songs used tend to weave together the themes in the dialogue. This flick still makes me misty.
What about Kev. on Haynes...and "Velvet Goldmine?"
Yeah or nah?
Again (and I know you don't discriminate against your more visual cinematic peers, but still) this is the anti-thesis of what Kevin tells young up-&-comers about developing visual style...and yet I can't help but notice that it gets the narrative job done...
That said, Eddie Izzard would ravish your dialogue in as similar a way as Alan Rickman. In the future, with ambition, I'm sure he wouldn't tell you no.
Oh, and one more thing. Does anyone have the Region 2 "Velvet Goldmine" DvD? Are there any extras?
"Your cigarette traces a ladder..."
...as do the songs.
