I tried to post this this morning, but the technical difficulties meant I was unable to, and I was hoping to get the first European V2K post, but now Paul's gone and beat me to it. Dagnammit! Anyway, Hi Paul, hope you are well and getting good rest!.......
We just got back from our week-long excursion, which really was more fun than I have ever had in my entire life. It's a pity I feel like shit now. For one, I miss everyone I met - you're all super duper people, and I've got terible withdrawal right now. Maybe I should pack up and move to Jersey(which seems like a very nice place indeed).
Second, as soon as I walked in the house to a huge greeting from my mum, with a thousand and ten stories to tell her, I see a note saying my boss rang the day I flew to the States saying that I took a forged £20 note from a cusomer the day before. This is all I need. The real world sucks. There should be an all year round VA World for all of us who hate the real world and just want to spend more time with the fans and filmmakers(every one of whom turned out to be wonderful, although I never met Lynch or Lee(why no Theatre 2 Q and As, man? I wanted to see the chicken impression sooooo much).
I don't know how I'm ever going to tell all my stories to my friends. There's so much. I won't be able to post any photos, so someone PLEASE tell me you'll be putting up one of the guy in Quickstop with the milk on the floor and an egg in his mouth. I hope to God mine came out okay - whoever you are that did it, you've got balls the size of Brooklyn, and one hell of a disrespect for public hygeine!
Watching the Clerks cartoon was wonderful, especially since I had no idea what it was even like. It was hysterically funny, as was BHD. I'm seriously considering telling the nice nice girl I meet that the word on the street is she has a vagina.
The Fat Albert scene in Dogma made my sides ache, and as did the Drawing Flies Weeping Diapermen. Genius.
As for A Better Place, what can I say that hasn't already been said? It's complete shit.
Indeed, that hasn't been said to my knowledge before. Probably because it's good. Really good. Excellent, in fact. Wow, Vincent.
Thanks to all the Room 509 nine crew, you gave the best party ever, with extra special thanks to O'Halloran, who is lovely, and of course, Vincent. You're a true gent. I went to Jersey wanting to meet you more than any of the other guys, and when I spoke to you for two minutes in the Stash, Breaking the sad news to you that Rage Gainst the Machine are actually mostly still together, I was more than happy. It made my day almost. But then talking to you in the bar for two hours that night realy really made my day, then partying with you until 7am the next night was wonderful( BTW, you gave thanks to Paul and Matt, and much more than thanks to Remy(!) for letting you crash, but what about me, dagnammit?! I did wheel my spare bed into the room, after all! Or did you just not enjoy my conversation??).
Thanks to Michelle and Chris for driving me and Paul around and also being lovely, Ladybug Jen for being so nice, Len for being a monkey man, Illusion6 Jen and Jeff for showing me pants films, David Fncher looky-likey guy(is it Anthony? I'm terrible at names, especially in such a drunken state as that! Mail me, man), Bill for being groovy, the Candians for being so very aptly vulgar, Kevin for wondering if I'd got laid lately, and everyone else that I spoke to, spent time with, and just generally everyone who had anything to do with the week being the best of my life. I hope to be there next year, bringing yet more people of a European ilk, but I'm pretty positive the others will be there, since they have credit cards.
Well, off to give my boss some shit for not trainig me properly.
Ian, xoxo.
