Question for Kevin about Extras/March

Let's say, hypothetically, a "friend of mine"
went to Redbank to try to be an extra.

If said friend was picked, how long is the range of
time to shoot this scene? I know it varies wildly, but
I'm guessing that since it's an extra, they're not needed
during the entire shooting of all the other scenes as well.

What I'm asking , is if someone did have a steady job and
wanted to use vacation time for this, would that be feasible?
IE: 3 or 4 weeks.

I know March is a ways off, but someone further down-Godfrey-posted
that bit about a contest for a walk-on role and this further piqued
my friend's curiousity.
