It's entirely possible it's not him. Fakes abound in cyberspace. There was one guy passing himself off as me who had my style down so perfectly, I couldn't believe it. On the other hand, there was the imposter who went around on Usenet tossing around racial epithets. *That* got me a ton of good will.
