Who is Steve-dave supposed to be?

I'm sorry if this has already been asked but i could find no previously posted . . . post. In the CLERKS comic Steve-Dave and Walt work at the comic shop and share a hatred for Broddie and Randal. Yet in MALLRATS Broddie says hi to Walt in the "dirt mall". What is that and who is Steve-Dave and the two (?) Walts? Thank you.
