While the methods may have been a bit brash, the message was important. Kevin decided to keep the other board, so off-topic crap should be posted over there. All of these posts have qualified as that.
It seems that on this board you can't win. People complain about how mean everyone is here, but continually break the rules of the board. Most often the mean attitudes stem from people not bothering to read the summaries or posting off-topic crap. Sometimes it takes a bit of a reminder, or even a chance to tell someone for the first time, to get people to pay attention.
Unfortunately, anyone who does this immediately gets branded as an "asshole" or a "board nazi/police." Smalls has been bashed for years about this, and while I may not always agree with him about the needed vigilence of "policing," it does get tiring to wade through off-topic posts all the time.
