Kevin, I'm a big fan-boy, and in this crazy biz too. I have so much respect for directors like you (or Rodriguez) who do the first duty first: TELL THE STORY !!! And then don't burn the money. I'm hoping that with the liberation of film making technology from cost (check your local i-mac)that your example of excellent, funny, thoughtful story telling will be reflected in others. The flip side of course, will be an avalanche of web-posted shit I'm sure. So the question I would ask if I had you, a beer, and a pack of smokes (or a well packed blunt) sitting in front of me would be this: How did you protect yourself and your work enough to hang onto the low-budge curve, despite having to deal with studio distribution bullshit ? How have you gotten away with spending so little ? (some people will no doubt say: Hello moron, he just doesn't spend it ! They don't realize the scepticism that studio execs have for any project that doesn't cost at least 10 mill)... Then I'd ask: Do you have any plans for web-shorts, or web released media ? Why cowtow to these TV assholes when you could start distributing yourself (Fuck CBS... I've worked for Disney... I Know !) ? When everybody starts hooking up the broadband, I hope you're bringing it on.
Hope you're holidays are grand, and can't wait to see VA5 (I kinda like that name better...)
