right now I'm using a program called "Hollywood Screenplay" for my script. It really helps. I mean, yeah, you can write in word, and if you're Kevin Smith nobody's going to care what you write it on, but if you want the "industry people" to read it, they want it in a familiar format. Movie Magic and Hollywood screenplay simply let you format it so these people won't just toss it in the circular file as soon as it lands on their desk.
Oh, and as for Hollywood Screenplay. It's got big big problems, but you can download a demo and see if you like it... I hear that some unsavory individuals have even invented a way to circumvent the protection that's on this version of the program, but we all know that would be unethical and wrong!
There are several different versions that range from $70-$189, but really, if you're going to lay down the cash, I bet you'd be better off with "Movie Magic". But just in case you want to check out the demo version go to - http://www.hollywoodscreenplay.com/
I don't know about the scheduling part, though Excel seems to work well for all the schedules I've made in the past. ;)

: For scheduling I thhink you'll want to check out Movie Magic
: Scheduling software. They also make budgeting software. But it's
: terribly expensive, so you may want to wait to buy it when you have a
: serious production on your hands.
: For screenwriting I would suggest Final Draft because it makes the
: writer's job so much easier. It's about $200 and it has a lot of nice
: features.
: Of course you don't need either program. Last I heard Kevin was still
: using Word to write screenplays so you can see that the right
: software isn't gonna make you or break you. It's still what's on the
: page that counts, not how well it's formatted.
: Hope this helps.
