: About "Dude, Where's My Car?" - You are missing the point ENTIRELY. DWMC
: was pointless, poorly put together, had a shitty plot, and was a film for
: those who laugh at complete stupidity. In short, it DID NOT BELONG IN A
: THEATER. Such is it's brilliance. It was a waste of money, because it was
: of poor quality. That's ONE of the reasons I LIKED it...
There's a reason right there. You LIKED a movie that was a piece of shit, because it was a piece of shit. I can understand laughing AT it because it was shitty, that's why MST3K lasted for 12 years, but liking it because it sucked is reason enough for you to be given a labotomy, without anesthetics, and then given a vasectomy, also without anesthetics.
: As for YOUR examples of "total nonsense humor": You are a fucking fool.
: BASEketball = Not nonsense humor. Airplane = Not nonsense humor. Those fall
: into a different catagory. Spaceghost and Sifl and Olly are, indeed,
: nonsense humor.
Nonsense humor isn't a real genre, so trying to argue what is and isn't nonsense humor is futile. You just have to stay somewhat consistant. saying that BASEketball, Airplane!, and The Naked Gun movies are nonsense humor is consistant. Saying that Space Ghost, Kids in the Hall (the TV show), and Sifl and Olly is nonsense humor is like saying that Good Will Hunting, The Piano, and Almost Famous are all dramas.
: For example: Any Spaceghost fan who has watched the episode
: entitled "Jacksonville" can tell you that it makes little sense. Of course,
: if you haven't seen it, that statement is of little relevance.
I saw it, I loved it, it made no sense, literally it was nonsense humor, but Space Ghost Coast to Coast is not nonsense humor. It's clever, funny, and smart, three things you'll never be, or be able to understand.
: Let me approach this from a different angle: Humor that isn't SET UP, that
: doesn't follow a formula, that is, in fact, the OPPOSITE of general humor
: is what nonsense humor is defined as. I am going to cite an example from
: DWMC - When they goto a tailor and put on two custom Fila suits that they
: had apparently bought the night before, one pulls a dove out of his pocket.
I already told you that nonsense humor is not a defined genre of film. You won't be walking down the aisles at Blockbuster and see NONSENSE HUMOR.
: That is one example of what I am talking about. Or, there is a point in the
: movie when they goto a pizza shop. A man tosses some dough up into the air,
: and, in oppose to CATCHING it, it lands on his face and he simply stands
: there. There are many other moments I can think of, but I have a feeling my
: argument is rather futile.
Yes, your argument is futile. Literally, what he did was nonsense humor. There was no reason that would cause him to stand there while the pizza dough landed on his face, it wasn't funny, even the stupidity of it was beyond laughable.
: In closing, don't knock a genre of humor that you don't fully grasp. You
: don't grasp it because you're looking for TOO much, when there is acually
: nothing behind the funny moment or the punchline that you just heard or
: saw. Those who seek reasoning do not like nonsense humor.
A genre of humor that Lynch doesn't fully grasp is like saying there aren't any jokes in Mallrats that a twelve year old wouldn't understand.
