The reasons given for Madden's firing were:
1) He did an unauthorized interview.
2) He mentioned Scott Hall's name on WCW property after being told not to.
3) He talked about the proposed sale of the company.
If you want an in-depth analysis, read Dave Scherer's commentary at 1wrestling.com. Look at page 4 of the 12/29 Daily Lariat.
My opinion, I stopped watching WCW a while ago, and Madden was certainly a contributing factor. He was just so damn annoying.
: A few days ago, WCW (World Championship Wrestling) Commentator Mark Madden was fired and the reasons stated were, for lack of a better word, bullshit. So, since I'm sure most of you here aren't into 'rasslin then I'll just get to the reason that made me wonder most.
: WCW stated that copyright infringement on Kevin Smith movies were one reason for dismissal. For those of you who watched WCW (all two of you), whenever General Rection would climb the top rope for his finisher, the No Laughing Matter Moonsault, Madden would exclaim "Fly, Fat Ass, Fly!" Also, whenever excited, he would scream "Snootchie Bootchies." There were other examples, but the question has yet to be formed.
: So, basically, did Kevin file copyright infringement on WCW or Mark Madden for saying these phrases? I mean, it's not like anyone cherishes Mallrats for it's witty banter (though, it's still one of my favorite films... so is a movie Lynch referred to as nonsensical in "Baseketball"). If not, it'd probably be good PR for Kev to address the situation so people realize that the execs at WCW are full of shit.
: Thanks for reading my crappy rant.
