...not one of those groups (Manson, NIN, Pantera) could possibly be classified as hardcore death metal. Manson and NIN are more industrial metal, and Pantera are heavy metal, bordering on thrash.

If you want hardcore death metal, you'd be best off looking at bands like Deicide, Obituary, Napalm Death and the like.

I have a feeling that the kind of bands you'll want in your film will be ones like Manson and the others, and all power to you for that. However, please don't ever call them hardcore death metal. If I've misunderstood you and you're looking for a hardcore death metal band that ranks up in status with the other previously mentioned bands, try Slayer. More thrash than death metal, but big enough to suit your ends.
