Clerks time descrepency...

Does anyone notice that they go from day (the car ride to the funeral), to night (when they return from the funeral), and back to day (the ambulance)?
At first I thought it was just an editing mistake, but then I bought the screen play & the time of day is actually noted in the above fashion. I was just wondering on reasons for this since Clerks was all supposed to happen in the course of one day!
