Seeing as how it never aired, it was about as gotten away with as the Jen Schwalbach reference. Had that episode stepped up to the prime time plate, you can bet your ass that the shuttle explosion would've gone the way of Flintstone's List.

I'll reserve my wow for the voice talent on the show. Alec Baldwin made Leonardo Leonardo come off as really sexy. I'm not even kidding there. Meow. A close second were all of Kevin's line readings. I'm strumming to the timber right now. There's an untapped audio book talent there. Don't even get me started on James Woods.
