I had planned to write my thoughts on this, but after having been called "swine" I'm not sure that you even care what I would have to say on the matter. (I'm a small town journalist by profession while I am also a returning full time student at a local university.)
If you can get past the fact that a member of the swine family is posting a response to you, I'll go ahead and offer my thoughts...
I would go for the grad school, unless you really want to be a stock broker for love of the work. If writing is what you really want to do, then I'd agree with Lynch...the stock broker gig is a good fall-back, but shoot for the grad school option. A friend of mine is working at a mortgage company while she completes her application process with grad schools (psych majors don't usually get in their first time around). But, she doesn't want to work at the mortgage company for the rest of her life. The pay is excellent and they have continually offered more bonuses in an attempt to keep her around for the long term, but she wants to continue to pursue what really interests her. You have to go for what will make you the happiest. No one can really tell you what that is. It's something you have to consider and decide for yourself. Just make sure you are comfortable AND happy with whatever you decide. If you aren't happy where you're working, then no amount of money is really worth it, in my opinion.
My husband and I have lived off of a VERY small income for the past three years because we have found that being happy doesn't come with a dollar sign, but with our passion for what we do. I'm now also working part time at a library because they are helping pay for my education while I work on my teaching credential...it's a nice change of pace, but it isn't as fulfilling as my journalism work and as I feel teaching will be when I reach that point.
To make a short story long...just make sure you're happy.
Now, if you skipped the last couple of paragraphs because a journalist wrote it, well, then my post is not only "off topic" but a complete waste of space on the board and for that, I apologize.

: One part smart ass, 2 parts intelligent response. We can all do it if we try? Also, Lynch. As far as the unbiased thing. If you don't lean one way or another on a topic, than why would you feel compelled to write on it. And I would never be a journalist. They are swine.
