With those other kinds of boards, like the UBB style, you can't tell if
someone is talking to you until you read all of the responses. The
WWWBoard style, on the other hand, not only makes it easier for the general
reader to see what's going on, but, more importantly, it makes it possible
for Kevin to come here and have conversations without wasting all of his
time scouring through every single post, looking for the ones actually
meant for him. And THAT is what really counts around here. What's good
for Kevin is what's good for the board.
But to be honest, I can't understand why anyone likes these new fangled
boards like the UBB one. They force you to read through every goddamn post
from every 12 year old with an internet connection (and not enough
homework). And they make it nearly impossible to avoid spoilers, to boot.
This way, you can check out the whole board, see who's hanging around, see
what they're talking about, and choose whether or not to bother reading.
And you can do all that in a couple of minutes. That's a pretty useful
bonus to those of us who actually want to spend some of our lives away from
the pretty blue screen.
