: Didn't ABC advirtise the Clerks Cartoon during the SuperBowl that year? Thats the biggest promotion it could have. A lot of people knew about Clerks and still didn't watch, so ABC probably thought that as far as advirtising goes, they could do no more to get the word out about Clerks.
Yeah, but you need to give a show time to build an audience. Two weeks isn't enough. If they'd have waited five or six weeks and the ratings stayed in 5's, then I would say they canceled it rightfully. But two weeks isn't enough. Just look at the XFL. NBC said they're sticking with it two more seasons in hopes that it'll grow an audience. The fact NBC owns part of the XFL obviously influenced that discussion, but remember that the XFL rating has gone down every week, and last week was one of the lowest rated shows in the history of Network TV.
A show NEEDS time to grow an audience.
: Ive never heard of that Meet the Band show ,it wasn't promoted very much so ABC probably felt that if the show was pulling comparative rating to Clerks, if they advirtise it more the 2nd season it has potential to do better.
Maybe... I think they advertised Making the Band fairly well, though...
: The only people that really cared that much about Clerks were the people who are big fans of Kevins movies, and I think a sizable number of us thought that it wasn't very good.
That's not true at all. The polls at NewsAskew usually max out at around 2,000 people. Maybe there are another 2,000 that don't vote on the polls, and an even further 4,000 fans of View Askew that aren't on the net (which I think is a pretty big assumption, but I'll give it to). Even so, that's only 8,000 people. Over 5 million watched the show both weeks. More were casual, non VA fans than weren't. If the show was good, they'd have told their friends, who'd have told their friends, etc...
: And then it was all over.
I guess. I think it's cancellation had a lot to do with the politics of it, though.
