If you were anything close to sincere with that last remark, then you obviously know nothing about Kevin Smith. He does more for his fans than any other director out there, and it's not because we're a fickle bunch that would drop him if he didn't do cool shit for us, oh no. It's because he is a very cool mofucka who deserves every bit of success he get's.
And with success comes the choice of putting his friends in movies or not. Are you Kevin Smith? How do you know he didn't put Marilyn in the flick? Because she said she wasn't going to be in the flick? Or could it be she's trying not to give anything away?
Suuuure, she was "just visitng the set", gotcha Marilyn!
I got lotsa friends, but I don't write movies for them. I write them for me. If there isn't a role they'd pull off as well as another guy, I don't think twice about it. My vision comes above putting Todd, the guy whose hair I held last week when he was puking in my toilet from a long night of drinking.
To summarize for the lazy-eyed: Kevin probably still loves Marilyn, and would bail her out of jail if she asked really nicely, but just because she's not in all of his movies doesn't mean he values their friendship any less, and shame on you for questioning his loyalty.
