How did the Hangups end up on the soundtrack to CA

I just watched Chasing Amy again and was surprised to hear one of my favorite local (twin town) bands. I didn't watch the credits too closely, but did Dave Pirner do the soundtrack to Chasing Amy. I know he's been doing some film work and it would explain the Hangups inclusion in the film.
