i think the word "attack" is a bit strong. but to answer your question: no, i wouldn't denounce catholicism in a spiteful way in an attempt to offend someone. just that which you provided as an example, which i despise (the child-molesting priests).

for having faith. but, if the opportunity presented itself, i would respectfully question certain aspects of, for example, scientology.
