The major point of Chasing Amy as I interpreted it was that sexuality is on a continuum rather than being all one thing or the other. Banky's not gay, in the broad sense of being generally attracted to men, but he's definitely in love with Holden. Alyssa's not gay either, although you could say she's *mostly* gay in the sense of being generally attracted to women. You could call them both bisexual but then what's the point of the labels?
People just want to get it on.
