Fake Glass falling on Steve Dave and Walt?

In the Chasing Amy deleted scene "Tell 'em Steve Dave" when the bin comes flying and glass shatters over the two ... you see some glass in Steve Dave's hair.

I wanna know ifd this was special safety glass that crumbles and can't cut you, or rubber glass thrown over them as used in other movies some times.

Anyone know?
