Miramax Films released "Clerks". Dimension Films, a branch of Miramax, produced "Scream". When it comes to set decoration, they'll fit in as many advertisements for their own product as they can. If you were decorating a video store for a movie, you could feature no advertisements (which would make no sense whatsoever), you could make mock-up advertisements, you could feature your own product, or you could feature the product of other companies. Look at the list of possibilities and you'll see which one is the obvious choice. For example, in the video store, all of the visibile advertisements are for Miramax/Dimension movies. "Clerks" and "Mother's Boys" come to mind. During the party, more Miramax/Dimension titles are visibile, "Smoke Signals" and "Clerks", most predominantly. In "Scream 3", a "Chasing Amy" video is visible in the scene where Jenny McCarthy is on the phone in Roman Bridger's office. As for the Jay & Silent Bob cameo, Wes Craven had nothing to do with it. It was Harvey Weinstein's call. After seeing the audience reaction to Jay & Silent Bob's appearance in "Dogma" during test screenings (before Miramax dumped "Dogma"), Harvey Weinstein thought it would be interesting to see if the same reaction would apply to a non-VA film. If you're worrying about how Jay & Bob can exist in a universe where "Clerks" is an actual movie, just don't take it so seriously. TS wears a "Clerks" had in "Mallrats".
