This is actually a two-part question:
--If I remember correctly, a second unit has never been invoked on any of the ViewAskew commentaries (DOGMA pending, I guess) which gives me the impression that all footage shot for previous ViewAskew flicks has been done by the one and only unit, directed by Kev. Are multiple film crews usually the luxury of generously-budgeted productions?
--The reason that I bring it up is that the exploding car (to say nothing of the long shots at the Bluntman & Chronic premiere) seem to be the first time that scenes from a ViewAskew movie would be shot by a second unit (which, for those who aren't familiar with the term, would be a second film crew which, though ultimately answering to Kevin, have their own director...and D.P.?). Vincent, does that follow?
If I'm wrong about that...well, Kev., how did feel to frame and shoot your first car explosion. Starting to get in touch with your own inner-Michael Bay?
