We all die.
When I was five or so and I asked why I had only one grandfather, my parents had to explain to me that after a successful surgery he was sent home and because technology was not what it is today, he was sent home with a blood clot which lodged in his heart and killed him. He was 47. It wasn't until I was 18 that I finally found out that my dad had tried to save him and deep down probably carried some guilt about his father's death. This was all explained to me by my uncle the night after my grandma's funeral. She died from her entire system break down as a result of lupus. and, oh yeah, a close uncle of mine died from lung cancer at 75. A good friend of mine was killed when he was struck by a car, do we blame the car manufacturer for pushing people to drive cars? Why the heck not? Cars kill people. oh wait! no...it's the person who CHOSE to drive who is responsible. that's right!
Just like it was my uncle's choice to smoke. My grandma (yeah, the one who died of lupus) smoked. Smoking didn't kill her. Lupus did.
I mean, come on....when our time's up, it's up. It's just that simple. And I don't need those self-righteous (usually reformed smokers) telling me what I'm doing to my body. I'm very much aware of what I do to myself every time I light up a cigarette. And you know what...it's kind of fun to rebel. "Don't smoke...smoking's bad" say the commercials. "Ok, that's nice, pass me a cigarette," is my thought usually. I choose to smoke. I will choose to quit. And I don't think those commercials are deterring a significant number of people from smoking. But whatever...
this is all off topic anyway
