Keep in touch with what is hot..sounds stupid, but I live in Cali, andmy two stores only order 5 copies of GA at one, and 4 at the other!

Meanwhile, 30 copies of Ultimate X-Men sit alone....

You'd think they'd catch the buzz, huh?

Sheesh.

Fave Quote-"Do you have Green Arrow #3?"
Comic Store Guy-" Green Arrow is kinda a second tier character...we'd sellm ore "Nightwing"...I think it will only last 20 issues before sinking..."

What I DIDN'T say....

"Oh, but you keep pushing that god awful "Defenders" of which you have 18 copies of..that will last for 100 or more issues?"
ROFLMAO!

: I am a Comic store owner.. and am only 24.

: Off the top of my head here are some of my top tips.
: #1 DO NOT over order. as you can not return the comics you order they are on FIRM SALE. (over ordering is the downfall of many comic stores.)

: #2 Order a good selection. Ok My store has a good selection of Kevs work on the shelves. and Yes I have made 90% of my customers read the 1st Clerks comic. !! But even then not everyone has the same taste so try and cater for all walks of life.

: #3 Once you see a customer coming in regularly off them a standing order so you can guarantee those precious ££££/$$$$ (I am in the UK so its £££)
: Because standing order customers are your regular guaranteed income.

: #4 Make sure Standing order customers know they are expected to pick up their comics at least monthly.

: #5 Be happy and polite to EVERY customer..Even if they are a regular pain in the ass. Remember you need their $$$/£££ and they need a good read

: #6 Get to know each customers likes and dislikes then you can introduce them to new comics they may like.

: #7 Try Different comics you wouldn't always read yourself and then you often find something you like.

: #8 Sell comics to READ and not as collectibles. the people out there who want to make money out of comics don't last long and always move on to something else soon. The readers will stick with you.

: #9 Take pride in your appearance of you and your store.

: #10 READ COMICS... Very Very important read as much as you can even if you are not too keen on a comic read them all if you can then you can sell them with confidence.

: I could probably write lots more for you ..

: If you want any help just mail me there is a link on my site

: All the best

: : Hi Kevin. I'm a 19 year old kid who has recently come into a fair deal of
: : money and I want to open my dream store, a comic store. Fact is, we here in
: : Australia don't have many comic stores at all, simply because there isn't
: : the large fan base that there is in the states. I was hoping that maybe you
: : could pass on some pointers from your experience in The Stash. I'm sure
: : having a few smash movies under your belt would help immensly! :)
: : Anyway keep up the good work, movies and Comics, and good luck with all you do.

: : Ryan.

: : P.S I'd love to see a team up with you and Judd Winick one day, that would
: : be awesome!!!!
