: Sorry if this has all ready been asked, I tried to look for it, but my efforts were all for naught. Anyway, someone told me that the Catholic Church has banned Dogma. Is there any truth to this? I wasn't aware of the Catholic church's practice of banning any movies because it's not really going to do that much good due to the fact that there are so many of them.
Nah, the Catholic Church doesn't ban movies anymore. (In actuality, their now-disbanded Legion Of Decency's worst rating was "C" for "Condemned" - and just going to see a rated-C movie was sinful.) But they do offer their own rating system through an independent film review board. The worst they give nowadays is an "O" rating for "morally offensive", as what Dogma got, expectedly. And there's no stain on yer soul anymore for a viewing.
Here's a link to their ratings site, starting with Dogma's page.
Peace and Hosties, Thomas
