I have a question that has been bothering me!!!!!!

In the past few weeks, I have heard of a new View Askew project based on Clerks: The Animated Series entitled Clerks: Sell Out. Supposedly the plot is as follows:
Dante Hicks and Randal Graves make a low budget black and white film about their experiences working at their respective posts at the Quick Stop and RST Video.

This sounds suspicously like the real story of Kevin Smith. I would love this to be true, but the plot does sound a trifle fake. On the other hand, I have seen reports of this film, all with a similar plot and the same title. Please shed some light on this for me.
