I always figured it was because the whole "Why are we here? - Plastic!" thing was accidentally borrowed from Carlin. He did this bit about 10 years ago or so, if memory serves.

: The "plastics" line, in fact, is one of the few things missing from the deleted stuff on the SE. Almost everything else I remember was indeed included. I have no idea why that wasn't on there as well.
