: This is really a hard point to argue either way, but here goes.
: Yes, his sins would be forgiven going in but he would still be killed on the way out. Sure his planning was before going through, but he would still be killed after coming out and the death would still be a suicide no matter when it was planned. If someone were to plan a suicide they wouldn't go to hell unless they went through with it.

You're way to anal...ytical (I made a funny). Look, it's A MOVIE. I know you understand this, but I'm not completely sure you understand what it entails. It's simple to answer your query, but not so simple for you to give up your position.

1) Bartleby wasn't familiar with the term, or didn't think about planning for cops to kill him as a form of suicide. HIS mistake.

2) It doesn't matter because God stopped him. God has a plan. The occassional rogue Angel trying to get back into Heaven could be part of it.

3) It was written as a FICTIONAL COMEDY by a HUMAN BEING. There are lots of (a few) flaws in the movie, why do people always have to pick on ones like this?

Unless it's a glaring mistake that makes the rest of the movie's plot fall apart, just pass it off as human error and enjoy the rest of the movie. You still get credit for finding something new, though, as if it matters.
