The scars (and accident) actually happened just before shooting began on Empire Strikes Back, hence they added the Wampa scene to give a reason why his face looked rather different from the end of Star Wars!!!! He has fake scars on the real scars, then you dont notice!!!
My point about the whining was when I was 5 and preferred Han to Luke!!
Nothing to do with his acting ability!! But after Star Wars he was just always known as Luke Skywalker and could get no real good roles, without them being compared!
