I agree with that theory. However, realize that you're seeing a limited cross-section, here - you're looking at Kevin Smith fans. It's unsurprising that many of the things we'd choose would be somewhat similar. I'm sure there are stoners out there who don't like the same kind of movies we do at all. Still, it's very cool that so many of us have such darned good taste.
I heard a stand-up comedian do this bit back when I was in college, and I liked it so much that I've continued to quote it still, even though I'm damned if I can remember who the comic was,
"People are always talking about how dangerous marajuana is. How often do you read a headline that says, 'Man smokes joint, kills 47 people?' How about something a little more realistic, like, 'Man smokes joint, eats M&Ms, falls asleep.'"
