I thought it was more like The Velveteen Rabbit, mixed with Tron, Star Wars, ET, DARYL, Bicentennial Man, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, and Close Encounters references, blended to a mushey grey paste. I neither liked it, or hated it. To me, it was a lot like Cast Away - great middle, but the exposition should be shortened, and everything after the first major ending (when he sat staring at the blue fairy) should be sliced clean off.
