Brian O'Halloran: I love him as Dante. He did a great job holding his own, and besides, no one can whine the word "fuck!" quite like O'Halloran can. ;)
Jeremy London: Yes. He sucks. My God, the things he did to Kevin's dialogue . . . and, yet, somehow, I think it all worked out. Usually, when you have a lousy performance, you have a lousy performance and that's it. But, through some miracle, London's lack of acting, twitchiness, and tendency to shove his hands into his armpits *worked* for the character. I don't know how, but London's inept mannerisms just ended up belonging to TS. In the hands of a capable actor, TS would be a completely different character. I'll say right here, for the record: I *like* London as TS.
Linda Fiorentino: Ever since I started coming by this board regularly, I've seen posts dissing on her acting skills; some just plain nasty, and some making intelligent, valid points. Since then, in watching Dogma, I've searched for these awkward moments and woodenness that people have been talking about - and I just can't see them. Regardless of Fiorentino's off-screen performances, I think she did a wonderful job as Bethany, and Kevin and company made the right decision in holding out for her. She has some really stellar moments in Dogma. *pause* 'Course, I watched a few minutes of some movie of hers that they've been overplaying on HBO and its offshoots lately, and what I saw was a slightly younger Bethany in some other movie. So, maybe her style just happened to fit Bethany's character well; I don't know.
Just my two cents, but two pennies are pretty worthless these days . . .
