I was the bees knees in 91, when "grunge" was in, and flannel was on the runway, but I was a geek through to the core. Luckily for me and my love life, I didn't look the part. But the very notion of someone who was someone elses MOTHER being a possible sexual partner was enough to throw my entire world into a crazy uproar, and find me cowering in the corner, like a character from a sitcom. I made Dustin Hoffman in THE GRADUATE look like a pimpin' playa.

It's amazing that I had as much play in high school as I did, what with my uber-nerdy-interests and naievete. (sp, I'm sure.) But it was all safely within my own relative age bracket.

Ah well; as Rod Stewart himself said on the subject (bringing it all full circle)"I wish that I knew what I know know- When I was younger."

No, actually, that situation was frightening for a reason. Young and naieve though I was, I was not so unwise as to not be able to smell the "UNHEALTHY" coming off in waves from the notion of a frustrated pretty woman who percieves herself chained to a smalltown life. Ever see WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE? That Mary Steamed Vigin was a scary lady.
