I recently stumbled upon www.jayandsilentbob.com and within three seconds realized that it wasn't a friendly place. The asslicker who owns the site uses it to bash and belittle Kevin Smith and his movies. He calls Mr. Smith's hilarious and many times satirical movies "mediocre" and says that in a world of James Cameron and George Lucas, the movie fans deserve more. Well all I have to say about that is "SHUT UP STUPUD!!!". It is first unfair to compare Kevin Smith to George Lucas and James Cameron. First because they are in completely different genres and second because Cameron and Lucas have begun to turn down Mediocre Blvd themselves. Allow me to elaborate. James Cameron created a show recently called "Dark Angel" starring Jessica Alba. The show is drab, predictable, and far fetched even for a science fiction show. The show has only two things going for it, Jessica Alba's breasts, which will only sustain the attention of the pubescent viewers of the show until another BS show starring a teenage girl with larger mammaries airs. For the once great George Lucas, it saddens me to say that the Phantom Menace was below par even though the hype was so big that a two hour lightsaber jedi battle would have fallen short. Now don't get me wrong, Episode I was a good movie, but it was a bit cutsy at times. Hopefully, the next movie will grow up a bit with Anakin. I guess all I am trying to say is that the movie business is bullshit and mediocre in the first place and calling a man who helped put NJ back on the map ( I am b.t.w. a NJ native and resident) mediocre is horse ca-ca. Some people are upset that Kevin has announced that "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" will be the last of the Garden State movies, I am saddened that I will never hear new versions of Snoochie Bootchies, however, I eagerly await the next movie Kevin Smith makes, even if it stars Leonardo DiCrappio and is about a deaf-mute searching for his lost kitten. God forbid a man dares to mix penis jokes with social and religious satire, Kurt Vonnegut did it with books and is hailed as the greatest satirist of the 20th century. In closing, more power to Kevin and if he indeed is mediocre, long live mediocrity.
