: I hate to be the one to pont this out to Tim but.............Batman, Batman Returns, and Mars Attacks were all based on a comic ( ok one was really a card set.) The original script of Batman was written by Sam Hamm. A well established comics writer. During the press junkets for both Batmans, Burton had said that he in fact WAS a big comic book reader and followed the characters closely for a number of years. Just looking at his film REEKS of Comic influences. Beetlejuice, The Pee-wee movies, Edward pointy hands ( ;) ) not to even MENTION Nightmare before Christmas....which was one big comic. And what about being attached to SUPERMAN as Kevin rightly points out.
While I may be inclined to belive that he didn't exactly "steal" the ending to a bad movie, I just wish he wasn't so quick to point out that he is too "above" that.
It smells of "protesting too much".
If you get my drift.
