: I just do not understand the need for Kevin to bash other directors.

Saying you don't like someone's work is not "bashing" - it's expressing an opinion. The fact that you're in the same industry doesn't matter.

: Film making is a business and you do not want to fuck your coworkers, if you know what I mean.

"Co-workers"? How on earth are Burton or Anderson or anyone else Kevin has had an imagined "feud" with his co-workers? They don't work together - they work in the same industry. Kevin's co-workers include people like Scott Mosier and Jamie Anderson - people he relies on to help him make his films. Yes, he doesn't want to upset them. He also doesn't want to upset people like Harvey Weinstein. However, Mosier, Anderson and Weinstein are not going to withdraw their patronage purely because Kevin might have had a difference of opinion with someone else who also makes films. It's like people who work at Ford being told not to upset those who work at Toyota because they shouldn't upset their "co-workers". Those people work for separate companies, and the people who run those companies don't give a fuck what their workers say to each other as long as the cars get made and get sold. Same principle (although the basics of competition are different - you can watch two films in a week, but you'd rarely buy two cars).

: I hope this does not hurt Kevin's career and I hope this is not what he gets known for.

Again, how could this hurt Kevin's career? He's not relying on Burton or Anderson to allow him to make films. And of course this isn't what he's known for, and I strongly doubt he will ever get known for it.

: I just think Kevin should lay off of the bashing and concentrate on making quality movies.

Of course, because watching a film and offering an opinion on it (sorry, "bashing") is really going to consume all of Kevin's waking hours and prevent him from ever making another film. As for quality movies...well, does anything even need to be said?

: I know you have a head on your shoulders and you think for yourself. That is hard to find on this board because of all the people that follow Kevin blindly.

Sure, there are people who seem to take Kevin's opinions as gospel (there's that word "opinions" again). But of course, then there are those people who don't have a single fucking clue what they're blithering on about. You've taken a few off-the-cuff comments of Kevin's and interpreted their meaning as personal attacks on other directors, then you've talked absolute rubbish about how the industry works when you clearly have no idea.

I'm not a blind follower of Kevin, but I like the vast majority of his work, and I find what he has to say interesting. His opinions on Burton and Anderson were purely opinions - what the hell would be the point of him declaring verbal war on other directors? Seriously, what would it be?

You don't understand the need for Kevin to bash other film directors? Honestly, I think you could have stopped after the "I don't understand" bit.

Jim
