: I think instead of bashing him blindly like the rest of the herd, a good, honest opinion is the best way to go. Because honestly, I like Tim Burton. I think, when he puts his mind to it, he makes some great movies.
: ****The Greats:****
: Edward Scissorhands - a modern classic. The score is just...wow.
: Ed Wood - Awesome, awesome stuff.
: Pee-Wee's Big Adventure - Let's face it, it was so crazily cooky that it was cool.
: Beetlejuice - the same
: Batman - Two words: Jack Nicholson
: ****The Not So Greats But They're Cool:****
: Planet Of The Apes - The only thing keeping this out of the "Shitty" catagory is Danny-fuckin-Elfman. The opening title score alone is worth the price of a matinee.
: Sleepy Hollow - Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en) made this movie much better than I thought it was going to be.
: ****The Shitty ones:****
: Batman Returns - Ugh.
: Mars Attacks! - Funny/Strange/Weird but sadly not very good

: So, me personally, I think he's fairly solid. I did however see an interview with him done by one of the female actors in POTA (She was the one who did the "sex dance"). All I gotta say is Burton is one weird ass guy. And, obviously, after the whole lawsuit blowup, he's too "auteur-ish" to see past his own ego.
What about "Nightmare Before Christmas" and the "Frankendog"-type movie he did? "Nightmare" is an amazing movie technically. The production on that took so much care and time its mind boggling. People think it sux because its a childrens story, but it isnt for kids. I saw it and thought any kids that see this will be fucked up growing up. Also, Burtons senior project for film school is about frankensteins dog or something, but the movie has good points about, especially when you learn that it was made by a kid. Tim Burton has talent, and you can't deny it. But, I honestly have no clue if he stole the ending or not.
