Oh, darlin' (I can say that, I'm from New Orleans) you really should block out a day or two to watch "Magnolia". I do like what PTA tries to do on film (ssshhhh, don't tell anybody around here!!). My favorite character would have to be the hapless LAPD cop who is just trying his darndest but is a complete loser, and he meets this girl who feels she's an even bigger loser. They're perfect for each other, but their loser...ish....ness keep them apart.
Plus the frogs. That's a love/hate thing, I know, but I just loved the frogs. I almost shit myself because of the frogs.
Tom Cruise is not as much a part of the movie as you'd think, but the 'misogynist' stuff is certainly potent. But if you're the sort of woman who would be offended by that sort of thing, then it really doesn't matter what he's saying anyway. It is a dark peek at how some men really think, though.
