Kevin and Fans,
Although the theatre wasn't packed to the hilt, I must say for a sneak it was pretty full. I have to say that we, as an audience, are lambasted with ads and shit before the actual feature. I sat through a half-hour of crap before a new Lord of The Rings trailer (at least new to me) came on. Before the flick, during the screen ads, some guys down front kept screaming out Jay-isms that made the audience laugh. Dim lights. Fade In on, by far, the funniest flick I have seen since...ummm...anyway. A good round of applause for certain cast members returning and, BAM, the second we see Jay and Bob the audience cheered nice and loud. The T.O. fan contingent is strong.
I will not give anything away for those who have yet to see the flick (although I really, really want to); this was the perfect capper to the Jay and Bob flicks we have come to love. Seeing Dante and Randal return in color was nice and all the in jokes got a nice laugh from the people in the crowd, most, obviously, fans of the other flicks. I have to say that this is Kev's most entertaining flick for me and, even though I do not find it to be his most well written, it is certainly the best cinematic experience for him. For a man who constantly reminds us of his lack of camera movement there are tones in JASBSB, more then the entire Jersey Trilogy. My fav part of the film, aside from the gags, was the music and how the soundtrack really played the part of a character at times in this flick. I am a big fan of stings and this flick had many. Also, it was nice to see some of the comic make it to the big screen although, I noticed, no Burton aisle' ending on the monkey sequence.
Finally, it was nice to see characters return at the end for one hell of an on screen party (although I would have liked to see the other Walt still looking for the sailboat somewhere). I mean, people got up and danced in the aisle. I have never seen that before. One dude in front of me was doing the Randal and someone started singing Berserker. I couldn't help but start dancing myself. Only three of four people left when the credits started to role and the rest stayed to read the always funny Smith thanks and, those who stuck, got a nice little surprise at the end which sent one guy laughing out of the theatre onto the lobby floor.
My sides hurt after this one, guys. You will not be disappointed. For those of you who already love Smith's work this will not only be a nice little trip down memory lane but a comedic joy ride. For those who are just being introduced to our little stoners...well, sit back and prepare to laugh your proverbial asses off at said flick.
Congrats, Kev. Although I will miss Jay and Bob you have left a nice little legacy for them. As you move onward in the wonderful world of filmmaking, one needs not wish you luck. A fan, like me, will just sit back in the middle of the theatre and continue to watch your success. However, as I sit there I watching new characters and new stories unfold, I will spare a thought or two of our foul mouthed, weed peddling, hormone raging Jay and out lovable, trench coat wearing, insightful Silent Bob in their natural habitat...in front of the Quick Stop.
I am now off to change my name to Boo-Boo-Kitty-Fuck ;-)
Regards,
Andre
P.S. I left that theatre hating all gays and I am personally joining GLADD as we speak. Ummm, yeah, whatever... Snoogans.
