I think you missed the point. I'm not saying that in the drooling fan-boy sense. While the movie works as an ode to his fans (and himself) its primarily a satire of road movies. Not Zucker/Zucker satire, mind you, but a good subtle satire nonetheless. Not even all that subtle, actually, what with the many asides and blatent references. But subtle in comparison to Hot Shots: Part Deux. (which, don't get me wrong, I liked) Its kinda like Mallrats, which was a far more subtle satire of these teen sex romps that have since then become all the vogue. Satire's not the best word, but I can't really call it an irreverant road movie, because seriously, now. Who is reverant about road movies? All the best road movies have an element of not taking themselves seriously, and this isn't very different.
