I dunno. I just personally think that it's one of those gags that you've gotta only use the once per flick... though I think it worked best with Affleck and Damon, yeah, because they were characters from outside the "reality" of the film... which made it funny... whereas the other cases with more "real" characters, were a little distracting.
*Shrug* That's just how it worked for me.
