I don't know what took so long to post here, as I've been lurking for
such a long time. But enough of that.
Up here in Vancouver, BC the screening went over very well. It wasn't
a full house -- something like 60% full -- but the crowd was a lively
one. Pretty much non-stop laughter from the beginning of the flick to
the end, but I have to admit that the Chris Rock scenes didn't go over
too well with many folks in the audience. It was almost as if my fellow
movie goers were looking around to see if there were any black folks
in the theater to see if it was okay to laugh. When they saw me
laughing, a few folks were brave enough to let out a few nervous
titters.
All in all, I have to say that the could be a hard sell for non-fans. That
doesn't make it bad, mind you, because I can't think of a time in
recent memory when I've laughed so hard. I think the hardest part will
be getting them in the door. My husband isn't that familiar with the
Askewniverse, but he laughed right along with me, which has to be a
good sign, right?
Thank you for ending the Askewniverse on such a high note, Kevin.
Thank you for years of good, earnest little films. I look forward to your
next project!
