I saw the flick tonight in a sold out theater in OKC. I still have goosebumps just thinking about how well this movie played to the attending audience. Both Jeff Anderson and Brian O'Halloran met a roar from the audience as soon as they stepped into frame, as well as most of the cameo's in the movie. Someone actually screamed "JOE!" when Joe Quesada made his appearance.
Everyone seemed to love the movie. Everyone except the girl setting directly to my left. She bitched to her boyfriend the whole time "that isn't funny" ,"why are you laughing?", "Now this is just stupid." I put up with that crap for all of five minutes before I told her to "shut your fucking cum catcher." I thought I had just picked a fight with her boyfriend but he just giggled. I think they may have ended their relationship tonight and he is better off for it. If not I am trully sorry, but I can't stand it when people talk during a movie that I have waited with great anticipation to see. If that makes me a bad person flame away.
Now I knew I was not the only fanboy in OKC, I thought that the ratio of rednecks out weighed the literate population by quite a bit, but I must admit to feeling a bit of state pride when at least two thirds of the audience cheered Scott Mosier's brief appearance as Willam. More than half the audience set threw the entire credits to the end. I'm a man, and I admit that I teared up a little when "God" closed the book on the Askiewniverse.
I just wanted to thank Kevin and crew for all the laughs and great times that I have had and shared with friends because you guys cared enough to create a universe that we all, from comic nerd to film geek to just plain old fat guy, can feel comfortable laughing at ourselves in.
I hope you never stray from the comedy arena, but I look forward to whatever comes next.
