Evening. Jeez, I haven't posted here since the ARMAGEDDON days. Just thought I'd log back on and let you know how the Tucson sneak preview went. The theater was wall to wall with folk from all walks of life. I expected it to be just the hard-core fans, but the audience was all over the place, demographically speaking. I'd say the screening was a tremendous success. The audience was howling appropriately the whole time, and more people than you might have thought appreciated some of the more Askew-specific humor. Not so much the more obscure in-jokes, but certainly most references to all the past films (particularly Chasing Amy) were caught by all. Most audience members stayed in their seats for at least three quarters of the credits sequence, which I have rarely seen and was impressed by. Outside of the theater, people were smiling and talking about the film- the actors, past Askew films, and what made them laugh the most this time around. It went very well, and I get the distinct impression that a good number of the people in the audience tonight will be back with their pals next Friday. Congratulations!
