: The main action was kept in the "T.V. safe action" area, which is about 1.66:1 if you extend the top and bottom lines out to the edge.

: One thing I'll try to do should Kevin and co. let me supervise the CLERKS 10th Anniversary Edition would be to do a 1.66:1 "windowboxed" transfer in 16:9 format using a 16mm low-con print or the 16mm interpositive.

Firstly you mean "16x9" not "16:9". Either way "16x9" is not really used any more as it is too easy to confuse with "16:9" (the ratio). "Anamorphic" is the word you're looking for... but I'm sure you know this!!

Secondly, you cannot have a 1.66:1 anamorphic transfer without creating borders down the side of widescreen/HD TV's, and thus *losing* image quaility! (Like an anamorphic 4:3 transfer!)

I'm pretty sure you know this as well!

Have some sleep Vinny! :)

PS - The UK (region 2) release of Clerks has is to have an anamorphic 1.85:1 (or if you want to be pedantic: 1.78:1 :) transfer, although I don't know what their using for the transfer.

A new 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer from 16mm would be great though!

It would also be beneficial to redo Chasing Amy from a 16mm print instead of the 35mm blowup used AND actually get DP Dave to supervise the transfer so it is framed correctly this time! :)

Laters!
